Just under 50% of our resource students moved up at least 1 level in at least 1 area.

Over 20% of our Resource students stayed the same in at least 1 area.

Upon discovering that 31% of our Resource students moved down 1 level in at least 1 area, 2 more intensive programs were introduced this year.

a.  Earobics- Phonemic Awareness Program offered to all low readers in all grades.

b.  Alternative Math Classes - While in 05/06, there was 1 Combination 5th and 6th Grade Class to supplement in-class instruction, in 06/07, 2 more Alternative math groups were added ranging from level 4 to level 6. This program is currently offered to resource students only.

Based on 2002-06 data derived through Derek Ihori; School Psychologist at Rosedell, given similar enrollment patterns, Rosedell has decreased Special Education designations by 40% while Statewide RTI (Response to Intervention) Programs show a 30% decrease.

Parents are trained on how to use the Spang Gang Web Program at IEP meeting. Their children are trained through Survivor and/or Intervention.   All parents of Resource students were given surveys by the State at the end of 2005/06 school year for Compliance Review.   We received over 99% positive feedback.

Currently 94% of Rosedell's classes come to the Survivor Program based on classroom need. Of that 94%, 11% visit the program biweekly and 83% visit monthly.

Survivor is a Standards-based Program where high interest hands on and computer activities are showcased.

The Spang Gang Web Program is broadly utilized throughout Rosedell within classrooms, Survivor and Math Intervention. It is growing to be a solid technology curriculum support system throughout the district.    The program has reached over 110,000 hits within the past year, with the majority of hits occurring over the last 6 months.  This year, The Spang Gang Web Progam won "The Best Buy Teach Award" for the Santa Clarita region.  It was granted for using technology to make learning fun!

This year's Create-a-Graph Competition encouraged kids to play at home and send over 300 graphs to Mrs. Spang.

Each class' graphs  are showcased on it's own page, and voted on by another class.

Gamerz Page

After voting, each teacher's page transforms into a Gamerz Showcase, encouraging healthy competition within each classroom.

This past summer, Kindergarten and First Grade Standards Programs were initiated to help educators and parents teach, practice and assess  California State Standards using the most current educational freeware available through the internet.
